What about Mays?

Worst thing for the Twins is success. It would be good for the organization if the team folded about now so that they could trade some high-paid players and get prospects.

Mays isn't a lock to be back and successful. I've heard that he's throwing without pain but that's a lot different than game situations.

They probably won't give big contracts to Radke and Guzman. Durbin will get a good look in spring and will be a late callup.

I think they need to keep making trades with outfielders and even with Koskie and keep picking up new prospects. They have to do this if they want to keep the pay roll low. I say trade Hunter this off season and put Ford in center next year, along with Jones. they are big pay roll guys and they have talent in the minors.

Get rid of Hunter? Nah, even if he commands the big bucks, you got to have somebody to make the game exciting, to draw the fans and keep team morale up?

Maybe the new guys will do it down the line, but that is yet to be seen! If that time comes, then do something if the payroll warrants it, the position is top heavy, or for the benifit of the team.

They can't go on the cheap all the time and expect the kind of performances Hunter gives, with his bat and in the field, on a consistant basis.

I would think he is good for the new troops, to show them the level they to can attain with a good work ethic and to set a precedent (sp) for other positions to match.

What will happen with Joe Mays next year? Will he be ok to pitch? How good will he be? Santana, Radke, Silva and Mays would be a good start and if they can bring up another young guy for the 5th spot. Could be great starting pitching for the Twins next year. I think next year will be the year for em!!

It'd be tough to trade Hunter, he could likely be in the top 10 all time defensively if he can play at this level for another 5+ years. His bat is pretty decent, especially when you consider how many runs he saves. He's so much better than Puckett ever was defensively it really isn't that close.

It sounds like Mays will probably be fine physically, but remember this guy had one really good year, one okay year, & a couple of fairly poor ones. There's no lock he'll be close to that good again. Lohse had a good year last year & has pitched okay this year, without much luck, no reason he can't rebound. He's always had better stuff then Mays. If Radke gets a big offer from some other team, they may have to let him take it, which stinks, but that's the economics of the game, especially for a smaller market team.
