Looks like we should find out soon how important it is to the Twins to have a first baseman who can hit.

We'll find out in Baltimore, I'm assuming Morneau will start most games until Minty is back. That could be a blessing, cause I can't see JM having offensive numbers any worse that DM. I know the Twins are BIG on Justin, but alot of the fans are still real skeptical. I'm in the middle somewhere. We all know by now that Minty is as good as he's gonna get, he's had long enough to try to prove it, and we know **** well the Twins won't pony up and make a trade for a power hitting 1st basemen, so we have to look for offense from within the orginization, so, really what do we have to lose by keeping Morneau at 1st? Like I said, a blessing in disguise.

Sounds as if they might move JM to DH when DM gets off the DL and put LeCroy in at catcher until Mauer is healthy. I think they want to give DM one last chance and then make a descision soon after Joe comes back.

You're probably right, but I think Minty has has a couple of last chances already, only thing he's proved is how overpaid he is, we won't get anything for him because his trade value is so low, besides, teams that want to make trades now are teams in contention that want a big name, like Randy Johnson to New York type trade, or teams that are in the crapper that want to get rid of some salary, but either way, the twins never have and never will make a move for a big time player, they would rather train them from within, and when their numbers kick a** in contract year, lose them to free angency because we don't want to pay them. The best we can hope for is the rest of the team to start producing and let the rest work itself out. But I do think someone won't be here on August 1st.

JM must have heard the scuttlebutt about DM,
although the twins are leading 4-0 right now, his last at bat looked like a case of the jitters...looked like Koskie did a week ago. Maybe the trade talks etc. shook up this team, they look hot!
