Broken Reel

I recently bought an Abu Garcia Ammbassaduer 4600c4. Tonight i was coming off the lake and had it in the storage compartment. It was a little rough coming in so of course stuff was banging around. When i got back i went to go put it away and noticed one of the handles broke off. you would think that for the price a little bumping around in the boat wouldn't affect it. Anyone else every have any problems like this with new equipment?

I have always had good luck with Abu reels. I am sure they will quickly repair or replace it if you send it back. If you purchased it at one of the large sporting goods stores in the area, they may give you a new one if you take it in and have your receipt.

I purchased a Penn Captiva reel over two years ago and the thing was junk from the first cast. I should have sent it back before the warranty was over but I did not. Finally, this summer the final nail in the coffin was the bail spring breaking. This thing had a graphite frame that flexed very badly with any fish over 2 pounds. The bail did not close if the spool was most of the way up which is what I think caused the bail spring to break. I sent the reel back to Penn with a nice note about how badly designed that reel was. They over nighted me a new one within a week at no cost. Good companies will still stand behind their products.

From The Get Go .. When He Got Back To The Farm .. Chainsaws .. Equipment .. Etc.. Had Broken An eyelet On One Walleye Rig.. And Smashed The Reel On My Other Walleye Rig .. Instead of sending back I would just by a replacement handle and put it on. It will be faster than shipping back to the manufacture.

Yes it is frustrating when you buy something new and it breaks.
