How Has Everyone's Bite Been Going?

Just thought I would see how everyone's pre-fall to fall season is going.

Here over in Chequamegon Bay, things are going well for me. Finding fish from 3FOW to 22FOW, from river mouths to the first available break where most fish have moved off their summer holds. Surface temps are in around 55 to 58 depending on the depth. After a so-so summer with goofy weather I hope the fall bite is a bit more consistant in these parts. Biggest fish was about 8lbs coming last night.

Found the walleyes shallow on saturday. 4 feet or less. They were schooled up with some jumbo perch and they roamed the sandy/weedy flats. Pitched a jig and minnow and bounced it back. Also caught fish on plastics too.

Chequamegon Bay huh, you're a lucky man. You ever ice fish there for smallies? Some phenomenal fishing.

I found the walleyes at night schooled up in 7' to 11' of water. Trolling SSR's for them was productive.
During the day they are in about 30' to 20' of water and harder to catch. Surface temp were I am fishing is 65ºF yet. So the fall bite is just starting to kick into gear here.

Yup, born and raised in the area here. Live in Bayfield. I love to ice fish the bay, but I really dont target smallies through the ice. Have caught them while over by Ashland's coal dock, etc fishing for coho's and browns that winter there. Anyways, if your ever over my way, give me a shout and we can hook up to do some fishing.

In Des Moines we are dealing with all the rain from southern MN and northern IA so the rivers look like chocolate milk and are moving right along. I'm going to go to one of the local dams and cast some twisters tonight but I'm not getting my hopes up to far. I was at Spirit Lake two weeks ago and caught two small eyes on Lindy rigs tipped w/ big minnows. A little tough for me right now but when the rivers settle down I will be going as much as possible.

What type of bottom, structure, or whatever should I be looking for when targeting perch and walleye from shore this time of the year? I'd love to hook into some keepers this Sunday.

Hey Lost, I have been having good luck off the dock in an area with some basketball sized rocks down to rubble as it gets deeper (shore-12 feet). Two nights ago I caught a 28" walleye casting into 12 FOW in that area. That was on the first cast of the night. On my next cast I caught a 16" eater as well right next to the dock in 5 FOW. I expect that the fishing will only improve over the next few weeks. The rocks/rubble seem to be the best for me.

I have been gettin som walleyes in my waders casting soft plastics and I headrd that the perch are biting in shallow water where I am at too but I haven't caught any of them yet. The walleyes like 1/16 oz jig and a 3" mimmic minnow.
