20 inch largemouth

My 6 year old caught a 20 inch largemouth last weekend. I did not take a girth measurement. Typically in Minnesota this time of year what do you think the fish weighed. By the way he caught it on an ultra light with 4lb test. No help from Dad other than to net it.

Hard to say without seeing a pic. could be anywhere from 4-5 lbs-ish (give or take a bit), depending on how chunky. What lake did he catch it on? I was talking with a family who was fishing near me this weekend and their little guy had caught a nice piggie on Leech.

Pics are on my digital camera. The boy is amazing. We were at a small dam on the crow river. He brought his dip net down and caught himself a couple of shiners. Baited up and threw it on the bottom. My other two son's were throwing twister tails like me. I was going to tell him he should be throwing twisters like all of us. However this is probably the 4th or 5th time now he has done something like this where I have thought quietly or told him out loud what he is doing will likely catch hime zero fish or undesirable species. Two weeks ago we were catching 10 inch crappies hand over fist. He caught several crappies and then decided to get some bigger minnows and try for bigger fish. Ten minutes later he landed a 25 inch northern. Thanks for the response and the chance to brag about my fishing son's (4,6,8). By the way my 4 year old now fishes with an open face reel as well as I do. I suppose he had to learn as it is all he has ever had.

Nope. Your in the right county however I'd bet a buck it would take more than 2-3 more guesses until you got the right one. I was rather surprised. Used to catch lots of northerns as a kid wading around the calhoun dam and down the little stream.
