walleyes...Lakes or Rivers?

Recommended Posts

Depends on the lake, time of day, season of the year, all kinds of stuff! You can drift for them with some kind of live bait rig, you can pitch jigs at them, you can troll artifical, or live bait for them ,you can still fish for them with a bobber set up, and you can cast for them...with all kinds of variations for each method! Pretty versatile fish, huh?

How would one go about fishing for walleyes from a Lake? Slip bobbers and live bait? is that the main method? I've fished river walleyes but i'm not particularly good at lake walleyes...

help?

During the morning and afternoon, either a jig and minnnow or a lindy with a leech.

In the evening and at night, I use a slip bobber with a leech.

I always use live bait, but that's me.

It really varies. Walleyes can be on classic structure(points, humps, reefs, etc). They can be weed oriented. They can be suspended out in open water. They can be on large featureless flats. Depending on where they are at and how aggressive they are will determine your presentation.

For instance the past month or so I haven't caught a walleye on live bait. It's been all plastics and crankbaits in the weeds.
