What is a true jumbo?

Recommended Posts

I have had a lot of discussions lately with people about the size of a true jumbo perch. What are your opinions on this subject?

Personally I keep anything over 9" when I'm looking for a meal of perch, but I consider anything over 10.5" a true jumbo.

Ya I would agree with the anything over 9" for a meal.

A true jumbo in my book is about 11". 10" seems a little to small and 12" is getting to be pretty big so I average it out at 11".

The scale I use to decide whether to call it a jumbo or not is to simply set it over a the top of bucket. I believe the top is about 11.5" accross.
Otherwise 9" is a keeper in my fishouse.
