warranty work

Shopping for a new boat and I was wondering what happens if I need warranty work done.

I'm trying to shop local, but if I can't find what I want or I get a great deal elswhere, I'm wondering if I would have to take my boat/motor to a dealership to get warranty work done or if I can take it to someone else local to fix it?

I would take it to the dealer you purchsed from. Any dealer who sells the line you got can do it though.

Thats was a down fall of the boat I bought. Was over 30 minute drive away from my house and 2hrs from the cabin. I only had to do it once but it would have sucked to have had to do it more.

If a pontoon boat I would buy locally. My parents bought a pontoon locally and they would actually go to their lake if they thought it could be fixed easily. Also, the place had a trailer for them if something were to happen.

Chances are though nothing will go wrong with your purchase during that warranty time and you'd be best off getting the beast deal vs. location...

and typically warranty work needs to be done at a certified dealership.

He has to be an authorized "brand X" mechanic and do the paperwork. I'm going to say he isn't a "authorized" guy.

You can take it to ANY dealer that sells/services your brand. Just like the auto industry, you DO NOT have to take it back to the dealer you purchased it from. I take my vehicles to a dealer that I did not purchase either one from and get fantastic service.

try to find a good one (mechanic) they are hard to find in my opinion

even if its a drive 30 mins is nothing

i bought mine at a dealer on the way to winnie for the convience reason

but the guy doing the work just isnt that great

i have no confidence in him at all

now i'm trying a place 5 mins from my house but not impessed with them either

going to try another place next time
