New regulation??

I have a had a few fellow hunters tell me something that I am unaware of.

Is there any truth to the fact that salt blocks and minerals are now illegal for deer?

If this has been posted before I am sorry for not seeing it.

i haven't heard anything like that. no way to check on that now unless you talk to a CO who is still working. good luck.

No. How could it be! Salt and mineral blocks are just what they are. They use it for nursing the young and growing antlers etc. They are not a food source just minerals that their body needs. Kinda like us taking vitamins..

I assume you are talking about MN. Parts of WI are no bait hunting. Including salt blocks.

I downloaded the regs just prior to the "shut-down". Here is what is says.

"Liquid scents, sprays, salt, and menerals, are not considered bait or feed"

So,I think it is legal.

Salt blocks have been legal since I started bowhunting bout 8 years ago, however on the other hand corn and or apple blocks are not legal, that is a form of bait

OK, just got off the phone with a local GW and here is the deal.

I was some what correct.

There is no using salt blocks/mineral stations in ANY form in Dodge, Goodhue, Olmstead and Wabasha counties.

This is due to the CWD that was found last year in SE Minnesota.

thanks for the clarification with that, i was kind of wondering what the deal was when it came to salt blocks and what not.
