What rods do they have to offer? Personally I like the berkley lightning rod for the price they sell them at. For trolling, a 6'6" berkley lightning rod med/hvy action would be my choice. I'm no expert when it comes to choosing a rod or a reel, but what I like is a berkley for all my fishing and fasten on a shimano reel and I am happy. You want to spend lots more money then buy a G-loomis, Fenwick or some of those other $ ones. Sorry if this doesn't help at all, but I tried.

If money isn't a problem then the St.Croix Avid series is a good bet. I have a freind who uses the blanks and I prefer it over the G-Loomis. As far as trolling goes the Berkely Lightning rod 7ft med action, lots of experience with this and lots of fish.

I get all my rods from a company out of Mitchell,SD. I think scheels gets 50% of their fishing stuff from their too.

They make their rods out of St.Croix blanks, fugi guides and I love them! To me its the best rod I can buy for lil over $100.

If money wasnt a issue id get a 7' St.Croix, fast action, baitcaster rod. They are very senesitive and can feel any little tick while trolling. I would recomend using a superline too.

I purchased one of Scheels limited guide series rods made from the avid blanks this past opener. I've been using power pro 2/10 since its initial purchase. I checked the guides this last weekend while fishing eyes and 2 of the guides are ruined with grooves. Anyone else have problems with fugi guides or is it just my dumb luck?

Fish On,

Scheels has a lifetime over the counter return policy on their rods. Take it back and get a new one. I picked one up a couple of months ago and so far so good.

I brought the rod back to Scheels today; they wanted to replace the guides, but I encouraged them to swap for a new rod. One of the sales reps put up about a 20 second fuss, he in turn went straight to the head hancho who didn't even think twice about replacing the rod and agreed to give me a new one and apologized for my inconvienience. This is one of the main reasons why they get my business. Ya gotta love those who stand behind their warranty.
