any advice for fishing mille lacs

Recommended Posts

My grandparents live up there so I've fished it a few times. They live west central right north of wigwam bay. I've fished that area with little to no success. Wigwam is pretty decent from what I hear I haven't had too much luck there. Vineland bay is awesome work the big hump in the middle of the bay and also the weed edges. There is a little pocket on the southwest part of the bay almost straight out from a red house that is 15 feet and it is a great spot a small spot but I almost always see fish right in it. Also if you can battle the wind the point out past the island is good its a long ways out from the island so watch the depth and don't cut it too short.

I also really like rocky reef and one right north of it they seem to hold fish and then also Anderson reef. If you get adventurous and can get to isle bay and its not too wavy all that way is good there are islands and reefs everywhere. I also know of an island I'm not sure if the name I think ot starts with an s that is a big pile of white rocks and fish hang out around that a lot.

I love this lake if you can handle the waves I hope it works for you. I haven't been there this year yet but I hope this info helps. Also if you can I'd drive to the landings with the truck and launch the boat in areas you want to fish instead of trying to boat across that huge lake especially if its windy.

Let me know how it goes and any other questions I'll try and help. Good luck!

from what i hear the north end picks up in august and it can get hot with two foot rollers coming in from the south. if anyone is around mille lacs over the fourth of july weekend your more than well come to jump in the boat with me for a morning and or evening of musky hunting. i only can fish two out of my boat due to its size. send an email.
