Odd tree swallow behavior.

Has anyone ever seen multiple tree swallows feed a batch of babies? Yesterday one nest box I was watching had over 15-20 tree swallows around it and the babies were being fed by multiple adults. Today I noticed in my own yard that one nest box is being fed by 4 adults. There is another nest box in my yard that lost 5 babies during the long rain spell we had so I think the parents are feeding the young in the other nest box.

I have heard that younger adult swallows will help feed other young, but have not actually seen it. Cool pic!

Jason, I can't explain the behavior, but next time Conservation Volunteer does a feature on tree swallows, I think you ought to step up to the plate with some of these images.
