HNTNBUX
I ordered a 1648 MV NCS and plan on putting a false floor in. Has anyone put in an aluminum floor and know what it would cost compared to treated plywood and carpet? How about the best place to buy the flooring to do it myself? TruthWalleyes
I would just put a plywood floor right on top of the ribs, with a support running down the center of the boat. I'm not sure how you would custom fit an aluminum floor to that hull design with all the ribs running up the side of the boat. So what will be your primary use, Hunting, River, Fishing? Nice looking boat for that price!
HNTNBUX
Primarily duck hunting and maybe try a bowfishing platform next year.
stretch
i just got done putting a aluminum floor in my 1648 jon boat. i couldn't tell the cost difference but it cost me about $250 for the metal and about $25 for all the rivets. oh and i am a metal fabricator by trade so i got a deal on the metal. HNTNBUX
I still like the idea of aluminum for the floor. What size or thickness did you use Stretch? Did you use some type of diamond plate?
Gordie
I have a 18 ft husky jon MV and I put a aluminum floor in it.I went with 11 ga for a thickness or its like saying 1/8 inch. I got it at Garlick steel it was a 5ft X 10ft piece and I will never go wood again I also had a friend do custom coating on it in the morning I will clean out the boat and snap few pics for ya I belive if you look bac in the archives you may find some pics of it also.I have a step up towards the front of the boat but is only 6 inch step up then about 30 inches of flat floor then the casting deck. easy to do I used good quality rivets to fasten it down. RJMOEN
Keep us posted as to what you decide....just bought the exact same boat three weeks ago. Loving it so far.
Gordie
I have had carpet in it and changed it out three times in 11 years because of duckhunting mud and the minnesota river silt that tears it up so this is why I went to the coating on the floor. Last fall I tore out the old aluminum floor and carpeting it was trashed the Alum floor had glue and stuff all over it and rather clean it I opted for a whole new floor and I took out the live well and this is the area with the step up. Sorry for the dirt but had a long weekend in the boat and yesturday the rain hit us. Hope this helps
HNTNBUX
Thanks, that looks nice. I am going to try the aluminum route and hopefully I can keep it from looking like a hack job. Now I just have to wait for the boat to come in so I can actually formulate a plan.
HNTNBUX
I checked with a couple shops and having them do it is not an option. It must be a lot more work than I thought because they all came up with prices close to a 1,000 dollars. That is half the price of the boat.
