Deep Down Husky Jerks

Recommended Posts

My recommendation would be to let out a lot of line until you tick bottom. A LOT! Also, if you feel your lure tick weeds, give the lure a surge forward to rip away from the weeds and give the lure an injured baitfish-action. Most of my hits come right after the rips. If you just troll it without ripping, you are missing out on a lot of its fish catching appeal.

I personally prefer reef runners when I need to get down deep without three-ways. Maybe just a personal preference, but I think that they are better diggers.

Its not a bad lure to crank down fast when casting, and then let the lure slowly rise for a few seconds. If you see your line go tight during the rise, cross their eyes.

Good luck.

I have had some luck with the deep diving husky jerks. I havent had as much luck with them as with the Reef Runner deep little rippers. They run to similiar depths depending on amount of line out.

Tuned, meaning the lure swims straight and doesn't go off in one direction or the other. You can "tune" them by turning the screw that's attached to the lip. So if it pulls to the left turn the screw to the right - vice versa.

Some cranks just can't get tuned though, just a bad one I guess.

Do you just hold them off the side of the boat and watch them to see how they need to be adjusted? Can you do this with Rapalas? I don't recall a screw on the bottom side of the snout. I'll have to take a look when I get home.
