One or two planker? If you are trying to pull a slalom skiier out of the hole, 60 will not be enough with the stock prop. You could always buy a prop and drop the pitch by 3 or 4 inches and use that for solely for skiing. I have some issues pulling a slalom skiier with my Yamaha 75 4S (16'Rebel XL).

Pulling someone up on 2 skis is not an issue at all, and I would expect that setup to do fine in this situation also. Tubing is obviously not an issue either.

I'm looking at a used boat: 16ft 9in aluminum deepV fish and ski 1150lb dry weight. 60HP Suzuki 4stroke. Question is: could a 175 lb adult waterski effectively behind this?

This is the key word and no it will not. You may be able to get a person up but once you start cutting you will be pulling the boat around because of the lack of power. If you had a 75hp it would work better but something in the 100hp and above would work much better if you plan to slalom.

I'd agree with this also. 60 hp should do fine for someone on skis. my 90 hp whips them out of the water and is more then enough. I've pulled skiers on my lighter 16ft with only a 40 hp with no problems either. I pulled teenage girls up on two skis with that 40 and up to samller adult males...of course we're not proffesionals doing what they do!
