What are some options for selling a wheelhouse?

My husband and I have decided we are going to sell our 2008 Grand Lodge wheelhouse we purchased last fall. We are expecting a baby in September and figure we will not be using it this winter at all. We only used it twice this past winter. It's been awesome, but it's just not the thing for us. Plus it takes up alot of room in our garage and we both decided it wouldn't hurt our feelings to sell it. My question is, does anyone know of a good HSOforum to place an ad for it on? We'll definetely list it on the Classifieds here, and probably on list of Craig, but is there any other good sites for wheelhouses? I realize this isn't the best time of the year to try and sell it, but we are going to list it very, very reasonable and it has alot of extras with it so I think it will sell fairly quickly. If it doesn't and we end up hanging on to it until this winter that is okay too. Anyone have any advice for websites?

ummm, take my offer of 1000, and not worry about classified ads? lol.

C list and rhymes with dishhouseforsale.com are going to get you noticed the most, but I doubt you'll sell it before september/october unless greatly reduced in price.

8x16 with a 4 ft V front. If you search my posts on here there is pics of it from last fall from the Show Us Your Wheelhouse thread. Beautiful house, but like I said it's just not the thing for us and has not/will not be getting used.

I just sold my fish house using Craigs List in May. The one before that sold in June. Both buyers were looking for hunting/fishing shacks. My advice to be to put it everywhere you can. The classifieds here are a good investment, but don't stop at just one site...

Consignment auctions are an option too. Set the base and hope for more.

Oilfield guys are looking for these XL large units as well, due to the housing shortage in Western ND....the market is good there and you may wish to advertise it in Williston ND.

Good luck on the sale....congratulations on the soon to be new family member.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I've listed it on 3 sites so far, and been getting some emails. Wrong time of the year to try and sell, but if we have to hang on to it until this winter thats fine. I appreciate all of your suggestions!

I would put it up on C L I S T start high and you can always take lower I have sold things off there its always easier going down than it is to raise the price. You will probably not get what you want for it this time of the year but doesnt mean that there are not people looking for one this time of year and maybe get a couple hundred bucks knocked off the price. Good luck selling it! Wish I had the money and I would buy it sounds like a nice set up.

Hey Dave,

Thanks, we are pretty excited about this baby. I would love to sell you this Grand Lodge, lol. It sure takes up a lot of space in the garage. I don't know anyone looking for a boat. We actually just listed our Bass Tracker today. We are in complete "baby mode" right now and maybe next spring will look at buying another boat. As for now, we want stuff out of the garage as it's not getting used at all and just want to prepare for this little person to arrive in September. I don't think we even can begin to realize how expensive the little bugger will be! It doesn't bother us to sell the Grand Lodge but the boat is a different story. Then again it's hardly seen the water in the past 4 years and why keep something you don't really use? So hopefully someone comes along and buys it. I hope your doing okay. I think of you often and just wish you all the best.

Hi Brenda,

Thanks. I know what you mean about keeping something you hardly use. The boat will be hard to get rid of, one of the last things Deb and I did. But I just dont use it, so might as well sell it.

I hope you get a good price for your lodge. Where do you have it listed?

I know someone who may be interested.

Good luck in sept.

We have the Lodge listed on the Classifieds on here and also on the listing of Craig in the Minneapolis RV section. I don't have pics posted on either ad, but have plenty to email to anyone who wants them. Keep your boat Dave, even if you don't use it. As silly as it seems, maybe it's a big help just having it around because of the memories you made with Deb using it. Don't let it go and then regret it. I don't know, that would be a tough, tough decision.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
