Garage Storage

I use the gladiator cabinets and the Rubbermaid modular hanging system. Neither are cheap, but both are nice and having everything organized is worth it. I do use some ceiling storage as well.

When a house I use to live in was built they built ramps or a walk way to walk from the street to the house with out getting mud in the house. When they were all said and done they just piled them up in my yard. I took some of them and screwed them to the wall and used cable to secure it from the rafters. I had strong shelves that held a lot of weight. Best shelves ever and they were premade smile

I build my own shelving, basically a 2x4 frame with 1/2 plywood on top. Throw in a heavy duty shelf bracket lagged into a stud and you could sleep on my shelves if needed. I line every wall of my garage with these and you can fit a ton of stuff up there.

Maybe the homemade route isn't what you had in mind. but this is what I use. Shelves are 2 ft deep, 8 ft wide. built out of 2x4s and 1/2 inch mdf.

I built mine back in college 10+ years ago and they are the strongest I've seen. I move them from house to house (3 houses so far).

Supplies needed are:

2 sheets of mdf cut in half

16 2x4s and some screws

Mine also has a diagonal 2x4 across the back to prevent sway.

And I actually keep an old bed sheet stapled to the front, to keep sawdust and dirt off the stuff on the shelves.

Lightning that is exactly how I build mine, except like I said above I mount them to the walls and have some heavy duty shelf brackets under them. Your plan might be a little better because you can take them with you when you move but I needed the extra space down low so I had to put them up high. 2 feet wide and about 2-2.5' from the ceiling and you can fit the large totes, coolers, and just about anything else.
