Early coralroot

Recommended Posts

My wife and stepdaughter found these yesterday while poking around the cabin near Bemidji and, rainy, dark and windy or not, we headed out today to photograph them. A very precious and lovely wild Minnesota orchid, with tiny white blooms smaller than my pinky fingernail.

The early, spotted and striped coralroots are pretty common in many parts of northern Minnesota, but are unobtrusive and not easy to spot. They are among my favorite wild orchids. smile

That was a great idea to put the lens cap there to compare the size. Ninety percent of the people would just walk on by, or step on them. Amazing flower, thanks for posting that.

I suppose, anyway I was just curious not trying to be nosy.

It's no prob, bud. The cabin predates our move to Ely. It was a LOT nicer being at the cabin when we lived in Grand Forks than it is going there from Ely. smile
