side imaging transducer question

jt24

Question

I just got a HDS 8 and I was wondering about mounting the side imaging transducer. If I mount it to my board for my transducers on the back of my boat isnt my motor going to be in the way?? Would prefer not to mount it to the the bottom of the hull.

A wise investment for you is pick up a copy of Bruce "Doc" Samson's new "Lowrance Structure Scan, Understanding Side Scan Sonar" DVD. I also highly recomend Doc's new "Lowrance HDS Educational DVD".

From unboxing the new toys, to installation do's and do-not's, to fine tuning your new system to fit your boat and fully understanding all the settings to be sure your getting 100% from your new side imagery investment, this DVD will tune you in. Very well done and very easy to comprehend.

They run $20 (Side Scan DVD) and $30 (HSD DVD) and they will save you many hours of frustration and head scratching trying to get your HDS and your side scan system well rigged, and fine tuned.

Your transducer must have a clear view to each side. If you motor is in-line with the transducer you will either have to use a jack plate to get your motor farther from the transom, or install your side imaging on your trolling motor.
