Crow River: Delano or Rockford?

If you were to pick a better area for channel cats on the Crow would you choose the Rockford area or the Delano area? I have never fished the Crow River but plan on giving it a try in the next week or so. How is the water level?

I work in Delano and cross the crow everyday. the water is still up especially west of town(where the river crosses co rd 14). in town it looks like it is high but lower then the highest point it was. the field across from holiday where the hwy 12 bridge crosses the river is now dry again and the rock rip rap is exposed. a person could try right under the bridge because there is a paved walking trail down there. the other spots that I looked at were along river street which runs right along the river. there is a few areas that would possibly be fishable and not be trespassing on someones private property to get to them. I just need to bring my fishing gear to work sometime with me and try it after work.

Does anyone ever have any luck near Watertown? I'm new to catfishing this year, have tried it just upriver of the pedestrian bridge and near riverpointe park a handful of times this year, but have only caught redhorse. Is Watertown no good for cats? Do I need to go North, or is it lack of experience holding me back?

South Fork Crow should crest (sigh) again this Friday around minor flood stage. Finding good shore spots is hard right now, heck finding them in a boat is hard too. Temp 62-63 on Monday and got the big ol skunk in 4 hours of fishin'

Anywhere along the crow will have some nice channels. Finding them right now will be tougher then normal. I would try to find any current breaks, seams or cover with cut bait and you should be able to land some kitties.

I have pulled up some nice cats (24"-28")just downstream from the dam in town.
