MinnesotaMike
What is this stuff and how can I get ride of it. It started under a Mountian Ash and is now spreading thoughout the yard. Sorry for the bad photo, snapped it this morning. Thx, Mike
upnorthvoice
"spreading throughout the yard" and "came with the ash tree" suggest creeping charley. Can't tell by the picture...
MinnesotaMike
It did not come with the Mountian ash... it started there. I know what creeping charlie is as I also have a yard full of that, you can see some in the upper right. It is more of a low growing moss. I can rake it up pretty easily. LwnmwnMan2
Chances are you yard has too much shade. It's spreading because over the years your shade is expanding. A good herbicide will kill it, but it'll come back.Without seeing the rest of the yard, there will probably be other issues to help as well. Steve Foss
Agreed. You only have a moss problem when there's a pretty big bunch of shade. In spots like that, we've had really good luck over the years making flower beds in those shady areas and planting shade loving perennials. But then, we're a lot happier tending perennials than we are mowing. Grass looks really nice on golf courses and athletic fields.
upnorthvoice
That's a tough problem to overcome. You may want to look into joining the battle and create a shady place garden in that area. If you can't beat 'em join them. Good luck...
