5.5 hp briggs needs more power (rpms)

Stickjiggler

Question

I have a snapper with a 5-1/2 hp briggs and stratten signature series motor @ 10 years old. Is there any carb or throttle adjustments I can make to give me a little more power and or rpms? When the grass is a little longer it has a hard time blowing the grass in to the bagger without plugging up. Also bogs down when mulching.

Thanks all

Your governor spring may be weak. When the engine is running and gets under load you will see an arm move the throttle, this is the governor. You can adjust them either with factory adjustability, or bend the arm. I accept no responsibility if you ruin the engine, but I've adjusted many that had power loss under load.
