Nexus?

Question for anyone on the board...

I do a trip up to Lac Seul every summer in late June. I absolutely love that trip! I go across the border at I-Falls/Fort Frances. One of the painful parts is the big line across the bridge to the border.

I fly to Canada a fair amount for work and recently got Nexus which allows me to bypass the huge customs line.

Is there anyway to bypass that border line by car if a person has Nexus?

Any info would be appreciated.

I wish! Unfortunately there aren't enough lanes for a Nexus lane to work, so you have to sit in line like everyone else. Originally the Nexus was supposed to cover a remote border-crossing permit, which would save me $30 a year...but they changed that so there really is nothing better about a Nexus as opposed to a passport card.

That's what I thought. With the way the line goes over the bridge single file, I couldn't think of a way that it would work.

No problem! If at all possible, the key to avoiding the lines is a weekday or else very early in the morning or late in the day on a weekend.

Easiest solution is to skip the Falls crossing and come over to Baudette. It is free and it is way faster. I have friends that used to cross in the Falls coming up from the Cities but they now travel the extra 30 miles and gain time at the border unless you want to come a day early and get in the line very early.

I second going to Baudett. It hooks up with Hwy 11 and Hwy 71 Norht isn't that far. We come over from Hwy 53 and figure it saves 2hrs or more on Saturday mornings and we don't have to get up to the border by 4:00AM.

The only nexus lane in operation is at emerson,MB and the hours are limited. It will still help you cross a lot faster with it than without it!!
