Any recent fishing report for this lake?

You want to give it a try some day Jarrid? It's one of my favorite lakes. Been a while since I fished it though.

Haven't hit Wapo yet this year so I can't help you. In general for the area I've been finding fish a bit deeper than normal. Not much up shallow, but plenty between 7 and 20 feet, depending on the species you are targeting.

Hit Wappo on Saturday. NOTHING!!!! Went out from the bar, and poked about 100 holes. And me and the other two guys I was with got nothing. Oh except a little potato chip sized gill. Marked some, but not aggresive fish, and the ones we graphed were very small bites. Disapointed in Wapo.. Try her again later this winter.

That's odd. Most other people have been doing fairly well for panfish in the area, it's been the walleyes and pike that have been slow. There weren't as many weeds at the very north end this year as there were in years past, so my guess is there won't be as many panfish. Any fish we caught on the north end were right up next to the docks.

Yeah, usually do pretty well out there, but for some reason not this year (so far). There were some portables out there when we arrived (around 8 am), but they all left soon after. So I imagine not a lot of people did that good. Worker at the Bar said someone caught a nice walleye (but who knows for sure). We actually did better on eyes this last weekend then the blue gillz at another lake. Went 7 for 9 biggest was 20"..

I am going to head up tomorrow and try Wapo out. Never fished it before, are there any recent updates from anyone. Maybe a suggestion or two on where to start. Looking to target some gills during the day and then find some eyes and crappies at night.

Thanks in advance,

I would say don't be afraid to pack it up and move around the lake if you do not find anything right away. Usually there is quite a shack bash on the north end for panfish but as I stated earlier the north end wasn't as weedy this year for whatever reason and could have caused the fish to move. There's several other weed flats that fish could be in and around (south of the island, south of the YMCA camp, just south of the main boat launch (watch the ice near the dam there), and a very large flat at the mouth of the far eastern bay near the Bear Trap narrows.
