stored car startup

Recommended Posts

Im in the process of buying a grand am from my wifes BIL, who stored the car in his garage about 1 1/2 yrs ago. He did add stabil to the tank. Is there anything I should look at doing besides a fluid and filter change on everything I can get my hands on. I plan on doing the oil and filter, fuel and air filter and checking the plugs and coils. Is there anything I should watch for?

Its has been stored inside.

check in the air intake tube and housing for critter nests. Before you go to fire it up, make sure the brakes work In case the car decides to try to take off on you when starting it up. I'd get a fresh tank of gas in it as soon as possible.

I also change all the fluids but use cheap oil. I then put a few miles on it and change it again with good oil. I'm sure its not needed, but it gives me peace of mind that the oil is good.

If it was parked as a good running car,I'm sure it should fire up just fine.
