Lew's reels

I have a Tournament Pro TP1SH and it's a nice lightweight reel. I cannot get it to cast further than my Shimano Curado 200E reels. It's a little noisy on the cast. I feel that it falls in between the Citica and Curado.

He is right about the ABU Garcia part of his statement. The new Lew's have the same internals as the ABU Garcia reels, Bass Pro Shops, Pflueger, and many more. The old original Lew's are another story and still sought after by many. Shimano is it's own entity.

Anyone want to get rid of there old Lews? Down to 3 working ones and I cringe thinking I cant replace them. Why they quit making them is beyond me. Nothing like a completly free reel with no magnets.

Same here - couldn't agree more. Still use BB-1s and BB-19GS for cranks. Never been a better cranking reel made, IMHO. Supposedly, Lews is coming out with the BB-1 again, basically made to the same specs but with some updated materials. Hope that's the case. And I hope they beef up the pinion gear on them a little when they have the chance - that's the part that always seemed to go.
