WI Northern Zone Question

I am headed up to the Hayward area this weekend for the opener of the C&R season up there. Does anyone have any reports on the water temps on any area lakes? I know the water is going to pretty pretty cold so I'm hoping I can still find some fish. Any help is appreciated!

Heading that way myself.

Where are you headed? Are you going for largemouth or smallies? I will be checking with some buddies in the next couple days and if I get any info I will pass it on.

I'll be in NW WI as well this weekend and have no idea what to expect. Mainly targeting largemouths and hope some have begun to enter the prespawn stage. Looks like the next few days will be low 60s so hopefully that will stabilize the lake and water temps a bit. Let me know if you guys hear anything!

Thanks for the replies! I will be on Grindstone chasing smallies. I am hoping that water temp can creep up into the mid 40's but I see it is going to get down to 25 degrees overnight, so we will have to wait and see. I was planning on throwing jerkbaits and tubes. Any other tactics I may be overlooking??

Well Bdawg if you are quiet enough and I yell loud enough you should be able to hear me from across the street. smile

I had the same ideas the jerkbait will be in play for sure and I think I will have tell myself over and over slooow down.

But I will be thrilled to be out!
