Search problem-redirected

I am running Vista and out of now where when I do a google or yahoo search and click one of the search rusults link I get redirected to another page, unrelated to my search

I would start with a Malware and Anti Virus Scan. Malwarebytes is an old standby, combo fix is another and then whatever you use for Anti virus. Make sure you update every thing before scanning.

That sure sounds like Malware. You will more than likely have to download the software from another computer because it will re-direct you if you go to a site that you can download it from or at least the version I encountered would do always do a re-direct

If that is the case, try safe mode with networking. I does allow for network access.

Definitely malware or a virus. Combofix always seems to work best for those redirectors.

As already mentioned, you will probably have to download onto another computer, then run it in safe mode on your PC.

get a mac

look in your hosts file.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\etc

Open it with notepad.

NOT the lmhosts file.

If it has anything other than what's below, you've got some malware hijacking your search.

Anything with a # in the beginning is "remarked out" and the OS will disregard. Your host file is a little strange looking, but the # nullifies whatever is in the line.
