sled59
How is the early season pike in fishing in mine lakes? Was thinking with the cold start that the water temps may be like fall fishing at opener.
Greg Clusiau
Don't know about the pike but the stream trout fishing up here in the stocked mine pits can be VERY good. I've actually opened up by fishing trout instead of walleyes, especially when it's a late spring like this year.
Wanderer
When I used to fish mine pits quite a bit we would fish shallow areas to open a season like this. Like 10-15 fow. If they're not in the shallower water they should be hanging around the first drop close to it. Try inside the trees first before moving to the outside edge.I liked late springs like this for the pits. It made casting more productive than trolling. But hope for a breeze to break up that surface and make long casts when possible.
