1DIRTBALL
I just bought a whole bunch of onions from a truck farm near where I live and they are fantistic eating. Can anyone give me a clue as to how I should store them so they will last as long as possible?------------------YOU CAN'T talk AN OLD talk'ER! kpj5br
Dry is the most operative word in the above. Cool comes second, dark comes third, but dry...if you have cool and dark and even a little moist, rotton onions. Here's a trick:Use a wood or cardboard box, and get a few of those silicon moisture absorbing packets (they are famously in every package of beef jerky you'll ever buy) and throw them in with the onions, in your basement, they'll last great for months that way. Also note, you can buy those little silicon packets on hsolist... walleyehawk
My dad still hangs his in the basement where it is cool and dark. Hanging them on a cloths line or a few in a net bank on the clothes line keeps them dry also. Make sure they are fully dried out on the stems too.Worth a try.
