i have heard that if you mount a trunsducer on the bottom of the boat on the inside that you can get a reading thru the hull on an alum. boat Can anyone tell me if this is accurate

It can work, I'm not sure in all cases, I know my flasher's transducer did shoot through my buddy's aluminum boat, not quite as good as in the water, but it worked 90% as good. You need to have a flat transducer I think, and you need to have it in some water, typical rounded transducers might not work, haven't tried on of those... Aluminum thinckness I would suspect has some effect too.

I would go to the site of one of the manufacturers and they should have thru the hull mounting instructions. You should be able to get your questions answered there I would think.

Vexilar makes an "alumaducer" which is suposed to shoot through aluminum hulls with no signal loss. It's on their HSOforum.
