Too Many Small Bass

I was out fishing with my dad this weekend on a smaller lake near Alexandria. We were fishing for panfish and eyes. The problem was we seemed to get into small largemouths everywhere we went. It didn't seem to matter what depth we were in (8-25+ feet) or what we were using for bait (jigs/lindy rigs, crawlers, crappie minnows, shinners). Now I don't have anything againt bass, they can be fun, but after taking off 20+ of these little buggers (all a pound or less) it was starting to get pretty annoying. The funniest part was determining it was a bass (not a panfish) by the telltale beline to the surface for a small jump. I was just wondering if the abundance of small bass had to do with this lake specifically or more the time of the year or something? Has anyone else been dealing with this lately? We did manage a few nice panfish (a dozen or so crappie, about half or so being 12"+ and some decent sunnies, my mom caugth the only eye, about a 2 pounder).

Ive actually been noticing this trend on a lake Ive been bass fishing. The past few years we very rarely got small bass (under a pound). This year is completely different we have been getting alot of these smaller fish with only a few each time out going over 2.5 pounds.
