BMaxus
Help me understand.Whats the deal with dog training? What are you training for?I understand we all have different views on this and what pleases me might not do it for you. So we don't have to bash each other with this thread. It's just conversation.
knowsnothing
I know it will be tough, but I was hoping to train mine to retrieve cigars out of the humidor without damaging the outer wrapper. Seeing the way she attacks those frozen treats in the yard that look like cigars, I have a long way to go!
BMaxus
I'll chuckle at that. At least some of us around here have a sense of humor.
setterguy
Kind of a vague question but I'll try...I coach my son's hockey team. I relate dog training to hockey practice. And the actual hunting to games. You try and replicate the situations you may find yourself in and try to prepare the (athlete) as to how to handle that situation so when faced with it they don't think, they just react. I feel the more time I put into the kids at practice they better prepared they are for games. Same with training a dog in my opinion.
Todd Caswell
First and formost retriever FT next HT and then hunting, I know if my dogs are trained to a FT standard then at a HT my dog will be overprepared and I know I'll have all the tools to develop a top notch gun.
