Good luck MJ. My first season starts Wed. I have seen 2 nice toms in the area, so hopefully I can connect on one of those!!! Sat out with a buddy on Sat, and it was just miserable out, I hope the weather man is wrong for this week!

I never really gave a recap, so, SoDak was a pretty decent hunt but we went over the weekend of the gun opener. There were tons of dudes in the woods and many of them walking around. We had a really great spot, especially for hunting with bows, but with all the extra traffic, the birds were very skittish. Got close, but not close enough. I had a bird pass at 64yds but would not come closer.

I moved on to Nebraska and hunted for 2 1/2 days there before I got pushed out by winter weather. The birds never made a peep on the ground and I had a heck of a time finding them. I only seen a couple while driving around and could only seem to find singles while I was roosting. Obviously I was doing this hunt completely blind and on public land, but with all the comments about the bird density I thought it would've been a little better opportunity. oh well.

I will hopefully get back to SD in two weeks to hunt and maybe back to Nebraska. I've got a couple ideas.....

As far as MN, I haven't really decided on that. I don't have any go to spots and the place I usually hunt is near Mankato so I haven't had a chance to go scout at all. I'd really like to get one of my girls in range of a bird. Lots to think about.

My season started Wed, went out Sun, Mon, and Tue morning and saw a hen with a Tom gobbling right where my blind is set up. Went out tue night and accidently kicked a hen out of a tree at 630. Went out wed morning, to find the ground covered in snow. I could only sit out a couple hours due to work, and saw nothing.

Thursday sat out after work and nothing.

Sat all day today from 530 till now in wind and rain and have seen one hen. This weather sucks!!!! I dont know where Tom went. At it again tomorrow at 530. Luckily I am hunting on my parents land, so I can go in for Easter lunch and head back out.

Hope to not even have to go out on Sunday though!!

Last year I had to shoot mine during my later season, so its nice to have that to fall back on.

Sorry guys I struck out... Heard very very few gobbles all week. I had been hearing a ton the week previous so I dont know what happened. Had a few pinpointed where they were but couldnt put it together... it is public land i dont know if they had just been pushed off or if they were with hens or what happened but it was very slow. I was out there tried multiple different plans but couldnt put anything together. Its still always fun being out their though! Time pull out the wallaye and muskie rods now

I will be buying a late season license here in MN so I'll get another chance. I haven't quite decided on my route yet. I'm hunting with a buddy next week in South Central MN. I planned on buying my season G gun tag, but I just got word that I have a job interview on tuesday morning. laughshockedcry Its something I want, but why does it always happen when I'm going hunting.

Fortunately, its only an hour drive to the interview so I might be able to hunt the AM, leave my buddy there and return shortly after lunch. That could turn into a really great day.

Good luck to everyone else.

Yeah, it has been really dead around me as well. I was out Sunday, Monday morning and last night and saw one hen. There are three nice Toms across the road, but they are on YMCA property where they dont let anyone hunt.

Well, good luck everyone!!!

Well after pounding the woods and fields from 4:30 am to 8 pm today I came to the conclusion that there are no turkeys in either polk barron or burnett counties. The day started out with a few gobbles but they were all on neighboring properties sat on that spot till 10 then did some run and gun from luck over to cumberland on all the public lands and spotted 2 hens makes for a long day. Time for bed now and giving it another chance tomorrow if it's a bust I'm heading home and hooking up the boat.

Well, I'm officially done. I've got enough tags for a family serving of tag soup. SD was a decent experience and I think it went pretty well for my first try. Nebraska was abysmal and I sure wish I could get a do over on that one, and finally MN. I hunted hard for 4 days on a large piece of public land that I know well. The birds were there, but not in the normal spots. Also, the landowner that we've used in the past finally passed away and her grandson was not interested in letting us hunt there. That probably single-handedly handicapped our odds.

I had deer, coyotes and hens all within bow range, but I was unable to lure a tom to my trap. Time to start thinking about 3D shooting with the bow and scouting for the fall.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
