Nebraska Turkeys

Recommended Posts

Check the Nebraska Game and Parks webpage for public ground. You shouldn't have any problems finding birds. They have really taken a foothold. Should be a great hunt. Let me know if you have any specific questions about Wayne. I lived there for about 10 years. I was just there the other day as a matter of fact.

Yes please prov. What motel is better? Closest to bar and grill and other eating places. Mabey rent a house? Last year we all stayed in souix city but its to far to drive now. Our yard is in concord so i thought wayne would be a good place to stay. We had hunting permision in the ponca area last year for deer, not turkeys since i was there after season. All the people we meet in the area were great to us all. Thanks for any help.

The Sportsman's Inn on the east side of town wasn't too bad. (Bearing in mind the names might have changed since the last time I paid attention), Super 8 and KD Inn are the only three in town. The KD Inn is the closest to the bar/grills. Renting a house would be a possibility, although it is a college town and 1. things might be tough to come by 2. Rent might be a gouge and 3. The smell of stale beer in the carpets doesn't come out anytime soon.

We used to hunt the Concord area for pheasants about 2 decades ago, but I'm not sure what the status of the turkeys are there. Ponca is the prime spot in this section of the state for turkeys. Buckskin Hills State Rec is north of Concord or south of Newcastle. Might be a good combo trip for you, i.e. fishing/turkeys.

We saw many turkeys in the newcastle area as well. More west of town. All the turkeys looked liked easterns so i was alittle sad there wasn't merriam ones around. Again, thanks a bunch for your help!
