moroccodave
My german mother use to make meat balls in mustard gravy. She passed away and so did her receipe. If anyone has a good one , please let me know. The only thing I remember is bay leaf and plain yellow mustard. Thanks for your help.
reinhard1
i have gone through some of my recepies and notes and have this one i have done before.german mustard sauce: 1 T flour 1 t dry mustard 1/8 t salt 1/8 t pepper 1/2 cup water 1 T cider vinigar 1 T butter1 T mustardcombine flour, dry mustard, salt @ pepper in a sauce pan. gradualy add the water ,vinegar, cook while stirring, until boiling. cook 1 to 2 min longer remove from heat and stir in butter and mustard.german meatballs [frikadellen]:2 slices of bread2onions chopped4 garlic cloves minced2 eggs1 cup chopped parsleysalt and pepper2 T butter soak bread in warm water. gently squeeze bread to remove excess water. put bread, meat, onions, garlic, eggs, parsely and mustard in a big bowl. season to taste with salt and pepper. mix up all ingrediants with your hands. roll into balls. heat oil in pan and fry turning once in awhile until done and browned, you can dip the balls in the sauce or dump the sauce over the meatballs and serve with pasta. thats what i do. hope this is close to what you had. increase ingrediants for larger amounts. i would make this recepie first in these amounts to see if you like it. good luck. reinhard1
should have said two medium onions. i have this german cookbook with notes in german that i have to figure out sometimes. so the measurments are as close as i can get them to a smaller batch. i rarely go with measurments but they are a good start and you can modify as you wish. not everyones taste are the same. good luck.
