sea foam

Recommended Posts

Half a can in the oil, drive it for 50 to 100 miles and then change the oil. Dump the other half in with the new oil and drive it.

Unless there is a reason than you shouldn't have to add it to the oil. If your trying to clean the engine changing oil more frequently will do a better job.

Its a fantastic varnish remover. The varnish is what the carbon sticks to. With a hot engine remove a vacuum hose and pinch of if necessary so that just a little air is allowed through the hole. Slowly pour seafoam into the hose. Fast enough to cause the car to run a little rough but not to fast as to make the engine stall. When you get to about half a can add it fast enough to stall the engine. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Start it up.

I think seafoam is a good product. I pour a little in every time I put fuel in my antique tractors and I pour it in the fuel of some of my small engines. My only complaint is it has got so expensive.

And then watch the neighbors stare at you because it will smoke like a banshee until the Seafoam burns off. Keeps the mosquitos away in the summer. It does work as an injector/intake/piston top cleaner.

I'm not a big fan of adding anything to the oil. Seafoam is more volatile than oil and will probably vaporize out of the crankcase after it gets heated up on a long trip anyway. If your engine is that dirty you need to take it apart.

my sea foam rep says add 1/3 to the oil 1/3 through the vac system and the rest in the gas but i like to do half oil half vac and a hole can in the gas its 100% petrolium sp? based so it wont hurt anything, as far as injector cleaner i like the lucus better
