Planning for the 2011 Fish House

I'm in the planning process for the 2011 Fish House build. Has anyone ever put their propane tanks inside? I'm going to have the V front dedicated to bathroom/storage, and was thinking that it would be GREAT to stick a 100# cylinder up there and keep it warm. A propane "sniffer" could be installed to alert a person of any leaks...

I had my tanks freeze up twice this last winter, and it was a giant hassle.

maybe you could find one of the bulk tanks they use on class A type of rv. that way you could vent it to the outside. just a thought.

I would just put it outside. We had so e cold weather this year and my buddies 100lber never froze up while my 20s did. I just put gen exhaust on the tank and it ran fine. I just think the space could be used for something else

Build a insulated lock box type compartment on the outside of the house on the V. You could have it on a hinge system to have it open like a door for refilling

Put the tank on the outside and e.nclose it, if you see a need to heat your tank have a fan blowing warm air from inside the house onto the tanks. Putting the tank inside your house sounds like a good idea but I'm sure you would regret it afterwhile.

i would love to know your secret to affording this build? i loved your last house and agree with your choice of the larger house.

It's just a matter of priority. Ice fishing is by far my #1 outdoor hobby. I would be fine going all summer without stepping foot in a boat, but if I go more than about 3 days without ice fishing I get crabby. I would very easily spend $25k on a fish house before I spent $5k on a boat! I also hate having something that doesn't work properly, or isn't convenient to use, so I like to do it right the first time.

build a house fish in it for a year and sel it for more then you built it for that is my guess.

I wish that were the case. Unfortunately, Ice Castles seem to set the tone for market values of used houses, and it isn't good. For every person looking for a top notch, quality house, there are 20 looking for something else.
