snow blower chute?

At the start of the snow season the chute was hard to turn. I sprayed some jb 80 on the gears and it worked better! Now my problem is that it is to loose. The chute will turn on its own and I have to keep my hand on the handle at all times! What can i do to stiffen it up?

Same thing happened to my neighbor. He wrapped a bungy cord around the shaft leading to the crank to put some tension on it.

On mine there is a nylock nut on the bolt that holds the chute to the gears where the crank rod attaches. I tighten or loosen the nut when the chute is hard to turn or turns to easily.
