The Burntside Bash should be interesting!

Recommended Posts

After several days of incredibly warm, record-breaking weather, we woke up to high winds and 0 degrees!! Makes for some great ice, though. stfcatfish is out there prepping things so everybody has a great time.

I'd say I wish I was there too, but I just have to be honest, I HATE WIND! That's why I left North Dakota, for heaven's sake!! I can put up with the cold here — like I have a choice — but when it's windy I will NOT be playing outside.

Go ahead, call me a wimp.

But hey, everybody who's heading to the bash, you'll have a GREAT time!! grin

I wish I could, but I have to work this weekend frown

Everyone else have fun fishing - I'll be out covering a bowling tournament and typing obits.

I'm hoping to find a few hours Saturday afternoon to get out on one of the lakes down here in southwest Minnesota, but that depends on what the hubby is up to when I get back from the bowling tourney. With him, you never really know, ha ha.

Then again, there is that huge pile of laundry in the basement that seems to be growing at an alarming rate...

I'm a bit bummed because the Burntside Bash is the most fun get together I've attended through HSO and I won't be attending. The people are fun, great food and the lakers rock my world!

One nice thing is that there won't be that nasty slush issue because of the melt and then sudden cold snap. I'll get my laker fishing in hopefully next month. I'll let you gals know when I go!

Laundry be darned though-this doesn't stop me from fishing. The best rule we ever implemented in this house is that everyone does their own laundry. Sweet deal huh?

Boy, I wish we could have made it, but considering the fact I can barely see my neighbor's house right now, I think we may have had a wee bit of trouble trying to make it home! That and I had to work yesterday morning.

After carefully avoiding looking directly at the pile of laundry that needed folding and ignoring the way my boots stuck slightly to the kitchen floor, Eric and I did blow off all household chores and head out to a local lake for the afternoon. We ended up having chicken for supper, though. Not that we wrangled any chickens, we just didn't catch any fish. Totally skunked.

And the laundry and sticky floor waiting patiently here at the house for me. I dealt with them while the chicken cooked and Eric napped from the exhaustion of fishing, ha ha.

It was great to meet you guys too! I had a terrific time at the Boathouse ... haven't laughed that hard in a long time. laugh Hope to do that again sometime. Maybe not until next year, though. I hope everyone heading back to the cities made it home in one piece. That much snow is some scary stuff.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
