reinhard1
the fishing has always been good for me. panfish for the kids, but memorial day may too early for them in their usual hangouts. from june on they come into the shallows, especialy the north bay. but all along the shorelines the rest of the time. there are some nice largemouth in there as well as pike. the walleys of course is what most are after. the key around the time you go there are weedlines in the larger part of the lake [south section]. day time i would fish in 14 ft with leaches and bobber and late afternoon 6 to 8 ft. you can fish from shore by the beach or anchor by there and fish at the drop off with a bobber and leech or throw out a jig and leech there and work it slow staying on the bottom fish the 10 foot depth for it drops off fast there. the east part of the lake is rocky and a danger to lower units if you dont know where you are going, but the rocky reefs are good in late afternoons with the baits i have said earlier. i'm assuming you have registered already, if not sooner the better. there are two trout lakes within the park area with one behind the ranger station and one down the road a couple of miles. memorial weekend should be a great time to fish from shore there. spinners or small spoons casted out or worms under a bobber will do the trick there. make sure you have a trout stamp and no live bait allowed [minnows]. good luck. Wish-I-Were-Fishn
There is bait in Tower at the gas station. Thet have a decent tackle area too. Can't remember the name of it though. It's on the south side of the road.Don't expect any help with Bear Head info. Most only know about Lake Vermilion.
