CD to SD Card

Recommended Posts

In more detail, when you put the cd in the drive and the sd card click on the start button on the bottom left of the screen. Click on computer to bring up windows explorer. You will see the sd card as a drive and the cd as another drive. Click on the CD drive to display the files. Highlight the ones you want (like by holding down ctl and clicking on them.) Drag to the SD card in the left window. If there isn't a left window go to view and explorer view and click folders.

Don't forget to to go to the "safely remove hardware" to disconnect the sd before removing.

MP3 player that takes an SD card? You talking micro SD?

I am redundant, but I would copy the .mp3 files to your PC from the D: drive first to a file in the Audio folder. Remove the CD and then load the SD. Open a couple Explorer windows with one in the Audio Folder and the other in My Computer. Just drag the audio files and place in them on the SD card and they should copy. This all depends on the OS and system you are running.

PI do you mean writable and re-writable? I guess all the CD's I have used have had data and burning to play .mp3. Honestly I just work with DVD's and data now and have not burned an .mp3 for a couple years now. I burn DVD's and then store data files right on the DVD. All my music I pull is transfers to my Mp3 playing devices via DUN or USb and even the car stereos I have either transmit or plug in 2-3mm audio inputs.

If it is a music cd, ie you play it on a cd player in the car, then you have to rip the files to mp3. This can be done with programs like winamp or itunes (itunes you have to set to make mp3 instead of aac).

Good point that I forgot about.

Shack, I think he is talking Micro SD and/or SD, although Micro would be the same way to transfer sounds.

My guess is he has a MP3 player or some kind of E caller that has an SD or Micro SD slot in it to load sounds. A lot of predator calls are this way these days such as this model which uses SD cards.

So he has a cd of calls he wants to put onto an mp3 player so he can plug that in instead of having to use the cd player.

Shack, as for data vs music cd:

If it is a music cd the cd is closed so it works with multiple platforms such as a CD Rom, conventional disc player, and well your car stereo cd player. If you do not close the audio cd it essentially will only work in a computer CD Rom.

But as far as grabbing them off the cd if it is a music CD you actually have to "rip" the songs off the cd using a software or windows media player.

If ripping the audio tracks off a cd using Windows you have to select what format you want the files in (Windows Media Audio Pro, Windows Media Audio (Variable Bit Rate), Windows Media Audio Lossless, MP3 and WAV.)

If it is just a data cd used for storage of files you can drag and drop instantly as if it was another drive in your computer.

Make sense now?

Yep rip is the way and I was figuring just copying a file. Yep been awhile since I I even had a writable CD in the D: drive. Thanks for tut down memory lane PI grin Burning or copying to DVDs for imaging, bootable and even file transfer or backup has become the norm. Not to mention the use of creating a playable DVD.

"I see" said the blind man. A caller that plays .mp3s from an SD.

Side one here, but I turned on a friend who has the iPhone 4 about the Primos Hunting Calls app. He had some luck up in Canada using it last fall. grin That is a digital sound of the real call and not a real game sound file. The Doe Bleat (The Original Can) sounds killer and comes in with adjustable volume to get low when a buck is near. They have honkers to deer to yote calls. Pretty cool app if you have a smartphone.

I figure what would it hurt? laugh They are pretty soft with the external speakers on the iPhone anyways. More of a fun app but Primos says field tested and even recommends trying them.

PI, you got the gist of it. Homemade system that consists of a cheap($10 with shipping) china made mp3 player plugged into a big ole car stereo amp with PA horn speakers. Gonna have the local car stereo shop wire it up to get a nice pro finish. Shoulda seen the guys smile and nod their heads when I said I want this thing to reach out well over a mile.

Got it. Had to rip it in mp3 format to computer and then to SD card. Serious pressure on the cranium of a guy with 1 eyebrow and 2 chins. Good thing it's past noon wink Now waiting for player to show up to see that I guessed right on which size SD card to use. Just a bit nervous as to how long that might be. As I think it over, $1.83 shipping from China doesn't exude speed.

Oh scattered through out the pages of HSO. grin I had 99% of it completed prior to showing up here. Then the cool stuff came after but in the form of installing a stereo and updates/grades this and that. Nothing in an all in one thread though. I have some street rod interior stuff almost finished coming down the pike though.
