Ralph Wiggum
I need to know how many sparks per revolution my motor puts out in order to install a tach. How can I determine this? The motor is a 1993 Merc ELHPTO 60 HP, 3 cylinder. Thanks!
boatfixer
Set the pole setting to 12 on the back of the tach
Ralph Wiggum
Set the pole setting to 12 on the back of the tach Thanks, but that doesn't help. This is a Tiny Tach TT2A. This is the chart in the manual:45° = 8 sparks per revolution60° = 6 sparks per revolution90° = 4 sparks per revolution120° = 3 sparks per revolution180° = 2 sparks per revolution360° = 1 spark per revolution720° = 1 spark per 2 revolution
delcecchi
It is a 3 cylinder two stroke, wouldn't that be 3 per revolution? As I read the shop manual there are 3 pickup coils and one magnet in the flywheel to trigger the sparks. So I vote for 3 sparks per revolution. I guess worst-case is I mess around with it till it seems right
