I caught more fish on those the last week then the whole year was wondering how well u guys have had succes and also techniques. The minnow head on it and the big glow perch was nasty, when you dropped it down it would float way away. The action was great and if fish were picky when they left and u did a big jig they came back and smoked it. Awesome lure and if you don't have one get it!

Both the jig and spoon versions have been great producers for me. In a way, I kind of miss the old jig versions with the fine wire hooks. Those were aweseom for little fishes. The current version with the larger hooks holds better for bigger fishes, but do not have as good of a hook up ratio as the fine wire hooks.

Forage minnow in the silver shinner is my go to jig. Last week four of us went out to our hot spot and caught 35 crappies in one hr and 30 minutes. I don't use anything else. My husband caught two pikes on the red and blue ones in December when the ice wasn't driveable yet. His first pike was big and snap the line with the blue forage minnow on it. But yeah, we use this more than anything in our tackle box. Works great on crappies, sunnies, and perch.

yes i did well on this also. glo perch or silver shiner.

looking to see how the new northland live forage minnows do, the ones with the holographic prints. I'm hoping they don't end up like the "Underwater Lure" I bought years back, looks pretty, maybe too pretty and the crappies won't bite.

The new ones are deadly. The holographic is attracting fish and the perch and shinned tipped with a head or tail is nasty. The glow one is a teaser glow one side all glow the other is very little so it seems to tease em into biting and the action is very nice. The lindy flyer and rattler and buck shot worked awesome early but when they got finicky the forage was the ticket. Worked great on the bobber with just a minnow also.

Ok its the live forage fish fry minnow spoon is what I was using. It looks wierd but has a lot of action. The moxIe minnow is the one with the picture on both sides. The fish fry spoon has better action and has a copper or glow back.I love the fish fry spoon in the perch.

Ok I don't know how to lol. I am an outdoorsman first and not very computer swavey. I'll try

My best

I am not at the the lake anymore had to go back to college. I'm sorry I caused such confusion. It's the live forage Either fish fry ninnow spoon or moxie minnow . The one I had the best luck does not have the photo on both sides. But I know that either way these lures work great and I will be buy many more. There worth exploring and and looking into. The HSOforum doesn't have many pics so if anyone has some I would aprreciate the help!

When fishing is slow, I just play with all those modified lures and then go from there on which ones attracts fish and gets bitten. LOL's so I know if they work on slow fishing time, they will work on good fishing times too.

That fairy winged Forage Minnow spoon there caught me my PB female bluegill at 9 3/4". I think it weighed something around 11 oz. or I can't remember correctly. It was a slow day but eventually I did limit out on crappies on that lure.

    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
    • I went ahead and watched some of the MLF coverage.  Wheeler didn’t make the cut but the bigger story was the Poche/Avera fallout.   Kinda funny listening to both sides of the story and putting together the scenario, reading between the lines.
