DNR's CWD website-A MUST READ FOR ALL DEER HUNTERS

Recommended Posts

Here's the MNDNR CWD HSOforum:

www.dnr.state.mn.us/mammals/deer/cwd/index.html

Has podcast highly recommend listening to it as well as video, lots of links etc. Lou and Michelle are doing a great job working on this and are going to need our support.

Good for all of us to study up on it so we act based on facts not rumors and emotions.

Something like this brings together all deer hunters who truly care about a healthy herd, no matter what the preferred method of hunting or type of deer they want to shoot. Wish we only had to wrestle with APR's and ban on cross tagging bucks instead of dealing with CWD frown

I don't hunt down there but do remember the CWD positive elk in Aitkin county which is not all that far south from us. When that first came out we felt sick that CWD was going to get into the deer herd. Still, we made the decision right away in our group that we would hunt CWD or no CWD. As you will hear on the DNR HSOforum, hunter cooperation and effort is essential in dealing with CWD. It may turn out that it is not confirmed by the follow up testing being done and we may dodge the bullet again...but it sounds very unlikely.

Remember we are all in this together.

Best wishes to you who are in the geographic center of this.

I agree Lakevet. I have been doing some research and your links will help. Lots of knee jerk reaction down here right now. We need to be patient and let the DNR work. They are not over reacting yet, and neither should we. This may be an entirely isolated insident.

Please remember, of the 1,000s of deer shot and tested, this is one deer, in an area that has been linked to elk having CWD.
