I was at my parents house near Brainerd last weekend and noticed a gargling noise coming from the sink when someone showered or flushed toilet. We went on roof and un clogged the vent pipe and still had same problem any ideas of what this could be Thanks Ryan

Sure sounds like trapped air. Is it possible the vent is frozen shut somewhere deeper? My sister had one do that. It froze where the pipe entered the house wall just above the foundation. I wonder if it would work to pour hot water down the vent?

I poured hot H2O down the vent twice and wrapped the vent pipe with insulation in the Attic there is a lift station in the basement for the lower level bathroom I checked the sewer pipe where it exits the foundation and didn't see any frost or anything on the pipe???

You said you "unclogged the vent". Does that mean it was clogged?

Would it be possible to run a drain tape or snake down the vent to see if the hot water was enough to actually melt the hypothetical ice?

I am assuming this gargling is a new noise.

the gargle is a new noise and the vent pipe had a crust of ice over the top the snow on the roof was almost as high as the pipe a little wind and hot air from pipe made a crust of ice I dumped 2-1 gallon jugs down the vent at two separate times I'm 95% sure the vent pipe is clog free
