Buddy Heater Issue

I have a 3 yr old Reg Buddy heater and was using it yesterday. It was working fine then it ran out of propane so I went to change the 1 lb can and as I tried to attach the new can it started to leak propane as I was putting it on. I made sure the Buddy unit was in the off position and I made sure I was not cross threading yet every time I tried to put it on it started to leak. I then gave up went home and tried another can and had the same result. This has never happened before has anyone else had this happen to them? Thanks for any help

Remove the propane cylinder and bring it inside to warm up. I would suspect there is a chunk of ice or something in the connection.

Doesn't really sound like the heater if you have never cross threaded it then I would guess its the seal on the 1 pound tank. if you have an adapter give that a shot and see if thats the problem...

There may be a small brass nozzle inside the fitting on heater, if it is loose it will cause propane to leak while you are tightening the 1 lb tank.

Check rubber gasket in fitting. It may have fallen out or cupped and not sealed.

My Big Buddy heater did the same thing the other night. As I started to tighten the tank on it leaked propane, until I got a few threads caught. Once I got the tank tight it was good to go.
