but there was a short eternity in there where I was standing with an arched rod and a dumb look on my face
LOL! All to familiar with that look as I use it quite often. I always look around to see if anybody saw it.sick

In this case it was not that look more like this eek Siezed the 150 on the boat because of a bad fuel pump then the fallowing year Lower unit goes out after hitting a submerge log. Luckily I know a good mechanic that does great work for very reasonable prices.

Worst or best? I had a 17ft lund w a 115 on it. flew home from work, hooked up the boat, and was off to meet a buddy at the landing. Left some crawlers in the fridge so i circled around to the fromnt of the house, parked and ran in.

Meantime someone parked in front of me on the street. so as i am backing up i hit the curb with the trailer and give it a little gas to get up and over so I can be on my way.

I look and my wife is giving me "the" look from the front porch and i disregard it. a little more gas to get on the curb and now she's screaming at me.

Turns out I wasn't on the curb, I was on top of her car. the lower unit was screaching across the hood of her cute little mazda protege. I never took a picture of it but wish i would have.

Lesson learned, make sure you have your bait before you leave the house.

1st real vacation after I landed a real job at 22 years old, I went to the cabin with some buddies for 10 days.

4 weeks prior to that, the brand new boat, had some oil sensor issues that wouldn't let the boat go over idle. Took it into the shop to have it fixed. (Took 3 weeks to get fixed)

Ran great the week before, so WTH, we're good to go. We went up to the cabin.

2nd time out on the first day of 10 days off. Same thing. Took it in again. Finally got the boat back after 4 days and all was good.

BTW, same thing happened the next year on Mille Lacs and we had to use the trolling motor for 4 miles.

How about a story of nothing really going right.

First trip out with the Wilcraft. Got the toy hauler hooked up and drove about 175 miles north to a favorite trout spot. Dirt roads on the way in had a foot of snow but we plowed on thru to the camp spot. Dodge 4x4 diesel got us there but we didn't think the Wilcraft could get us back and forth the 1/2 mile to the lake with that much snow so drove another 50 miles to Ely Nevada.

Got to the camp ground after dark and got stuck in the snow trying to find a spot open enough to get into. After denting the trailer and breaking off a few tree branches we got ready to park. Needed to unload the Wilcraft first but couldn't get the locks off the back door of the trailer. Tried and tried and thought I had the wrong key but the locks never would open.

So drove out of the park and parked on the big flat lot at the bottom of the hill. Figured if I ever got the door open I could just push the Wilcraft out. Decided the locks were frozen so boiled some water and poured it on one lock, bingo it opened right up. Boiled more water for the other lock and as I walked around the back the water from the first lock was frozen on the asphalt and down I went. Good thing I had lots of clothes on since the new hot water was now on me and my ankle was twisted. More hot water, second lock off and Wilcraft sitting nicely behind the trailer.

Dogs won't go out in the cold to pee. Wife is not sharing my love of fishing at this point. Generator wouldn't start but I finally remembered I didn't turn the fuel on. Trailer is getting warm, wife is calming down, dogs still sitting there with legs crossed.

Next morning Wilcraft won't start and then the battery died. Pushed it to the front of the truck and got the battery cables out. When it finally started the throttle was stuck. Found out I had water in the cable that had frozen and wouldn't let the throttle go back. Wilcraft just didn't want to run at 7000 feet above sea level and made a putt putt sound. We found the spark plug loose ( remember this was the first trip out ) and after fixing it we were off to the lake.

Except for one other guy we had the lake to ourselves until the ranger came out and said no motorized vehicles allowed on the ice. Gave him a brochure about the Wilcraft and explained this is what it is for but nope can't use it here. Drove back to the trailer packed up and headed home.

So around 500 miles and didn't even get to fish.

The next trip was to a lake I knew I could use the Wilcraft and after figuring out how to get thru the water and out onto the ice we finally got to fish out of it. Ran great and got lots of looks from everyone trying to figure out what it was.

For whatever reason, the studs on the boat trailer stripped and broke off. The rim was ruined and cool hub leaked all the oil out. Took it to authorized ranger dealer to get it fixed. Month later they hadn't even worked on it. Then they worked on it the next day. Got my boat back and the boat was full of rain/lake water in both live wells and turning a putrid stale stench. So waiting on new rim. Another two weeks later I called, they hadn't even put new tire on the rim. It's just been sitting there. They do it the next day. So now, I've got the new rim and tire as spare, but oops different design so my hub plate won't fit. Tried months and months to get them to order me a new plate cover, but nothing. So I guess I'm gonna have to give up on the plate cover and hope people don't give me too much greif over having mismatched rims on the boat trailer. It may be an older ranger boat, but still....looks like only the newer expensive ones get priority eh?

Basically didn't even use the boat for a whole two months of summer...lousy equipment failure, followed by equally lousy turn around time on repair.

A few years back out on a local lake in early March, I found an unmarked open spearing hole with the front end of my truck. Broke alot of parts and needed a wrecker. Fortunately, my insurance paid for the truck and my medical paid for broken cheek bone. There was just enough of a snow dusting to cover the 1/2 of ice in the hole. Good thing I was going slow.

Sunday morning getting ready to leave the cabin and all the fuel lines in the cars/trucks/4wheelers had froze. In the rush of trying to jump start in -40 weather I locked my keys in my truck. Luckily we were in range of a tow service who got it open and jumped. Then when I handed him my credit card for the payment (keep in mind the side of his truck had a we accept visa/mastercard sticker) he said "not here, not now, cash only". To which I paid cash with no complaint.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
