Carb boot question

Boar

Recommended Posts

Just bought a 94 cougar, in great shape. previous owner actual told me that it need the carb boots that go to the air intake box. So i bought it. I actually test drove based on his recomendations that its would be fine an cheap to get the boots. it ran great, took it out to night in the back yard an was doggie an after warming up wouldnt stay idleing, I am assuming the boots are in more need than he stated an fear that the carb has suck up some snow or crud. Anythoughts? help would be great. boar

The carb will suck air and run lean. The restriction of air flow from the box is figured in in the tuning/jetting of the carb.

If you have a bad boot between the carb and intake that is worse and you'll notice that at idle for sure. Replace the boots.

If you order them tomorrow from Dennis Kirk you'll have then the next day. Easy fix and one you must do.

Reviewing things over in my head now, wen I test drove the sleds they came out of a heated garage where they have always been kept, thefore alwyas warm. Very well could be that I didnt give ample time to warm up mow that they sit outside. Tonight i gave a good warm up time an had no problem. So we"ll see. Thanks guys, Boar
