paddle tail swimbaits - jighead or weighted EWG?

When you fish paddle tail soft plastic swimbaits, do you prefer using jighead styles or the weighted extra-wide-gap hook style?

I've only thrown EWG-style swimbaits, not because of any particular preference but because I had numerous baits to go through.

I like that EWG swimbaits are weedless, but sometimes I wonder.. I'd be able to work a swimbait faster and deeper with a jighead, and it can be worked more erratically.

Then again, EWG style swimbaits will drop horizontally (rather than head first) when given slack, and if I'm using a lighter weighted hook, I could trigger bites swimming the bait over a pocket in the weeds and letting it drop slowly.

I'm just wondering if it's worth it to give jighead rigged paddle tail swimbaits a shot, or if I should stick to what i know works pretty well.

I use EWG because of their weedless qualities, I can throw them where I can't get a crankbait. I found some heavier weight EWG hooks too, that allow me to fish deep and fast, I think they were 8/0 and about 3/4 oz. The only time I would fish with a jig head is if it's in open water with rocky or sandy bottoms.

I use both! If you rig them you will see there is a difference in the actions. Mostly i'll use a jig head if i'm fishing it like a crankbait, where as if i want more of a flutter type fall, or glide i will use the belly wieghted hooks.
